Ajmal has a reason to be glad. The young actor is going to play a double role for the first time in his career. Titled ‘Karuppanpatti’, the movie will be directed by Prabhu, a former associate of Shankar.

If sources are to be believed, Ajmal’s two roles in the film will be totally different from each other. “One will be a young father of the early 1970s and the other will be the modern son of 2010,” sources add.

The film, sources say, will be set in two backdrops- that of a village and the city. “It will chronicle the life history of a legendary father and his lovable son, both played by Ajmal,” they maintain.

‘Karuppanpatti’ will be produced by Sundar. Cinematography is by P G Muthaiah of ‘Kanden Kadhalai’ fame while music is by D Imman. A search is on for a heroine. “A leading actress will be roped in for the role,” it is said.
